Elmer Figueroa Arce, known to the world as Chayanne, was born on June 29, 1968, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.
As the third of five children, Chayanne's musical talent began to manifest at a young age. His mother was an avid fan of the 1960s TV series "Cheyenne," hence the origin of his stage name.
