Barbara bazron biography

(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a series of appointments in her Administration:

Barbara Bazron, to be Acting Director of the Department of Behavioral Health
Dr.

Bazron comes to the Administration from her post as Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health’s Behavioral Health Administration – the division responsible for treatment of substance abuse, gambling disorders, and mental health services for the state.

Prior to service as Deputy Secretary, she served as Interim Director and Senior Deputy Director of the District’s Department of Behavioral Health where she oversaw children, youth, and adult services, emergency and disaster planning, housing, forensic services, care coordination, and provider services.

Dr. Bazron holds a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College, a Master of Education from the University of Cincinnati, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Pittsbur
